Smarter Grid Solutions cutting-edge products enable grid integration of new community wind project

The project, developed by Inverness-based community energy not-for-profit CES, has been grid connection enabled by SGS’ leading local control solution ANM Element and forms part of the wider SPEN Accelerating Renewable Connections (ARC) project.

The company’s DER grid integration and control technology made the project economically viable and has seen the project connect to the grid much faster and more cheaply than a traditional network reinforcement connection. It is hoped this will provide BHA with a reliable and predictable source of income and will allow BHA to build 500 new homes over the next 25 years.

SGS has worked with SPEN as a partner in the ARC project in the South East of Scotland which has facilitated a total of over 70 MW grid-connected renewables to date.

More information on the ARC project can be found on the SP Energy Networks website.
